Abstract: The Cosmopolitanism of Marcus Aurelius. For the Stoic philosophers, the universe resembles a city governed by the laws of nature and logos. Human beings, therefore, are components of a single community: they are fellow citizens. Marcus Aurelius explicitly considers a μέλος uersus μέρος type of belonging to this community.
