ABSTRACT
Vegetation and divinity: prodigies, power and propaganda in the Roman Empire. This paper analyses the imperial prodigies linked with trees that are collected by ancient sources. Researching his role in the religious propaganda developed by roman emperors in order to justify their power can increase knowledge about the behaviour of the imperial legitimation mechanisms, particularly when the dynastic continuity is broken.
