Abstract: The phenomenon of military violence in Latin technical literature. This paper offers an examination of the presence/absence of violence in Latin texts on military technique, medicine, veterinary and law. Through the study of the use of Latin terminology expressing the idea of violence, namely uis and uiolentia, or the idea of brutality, that is saeuitia, crudelitas and ferocia, the paper aims to assess the relevance and the attention paid to this kind of phenomenon in the Roman technical texts.
