Il carcere del corpo e la sanità dell’anima nell’Apologeticum di Tertulliano [The prison of the body and the soundness of the soul in Tertullian’s Apologeticum]

Keywords: Tertullian, Apologeticum, textual criticism, soul, body.

Abstract: The prison of the body and the soundness of the soul in Tertullian’s Apologeticum. The contribution focuses attention on the specific characteristics of Tert. Apol. 17.5. It analyzes the author’s lexical choices, highlights the possible philosophical sources and places both within the polemical context that is proper to the Apologeticum and more broadly in Tertullian’s production. In this way it is possible to better understand the aspects of the passage that are not very clear at first sight.
