Abstract: The Province of Moesia Inferior in Romanian Historiography from Vasile Pârvan to the History of the Romanians (2001). This article presents the image of the province of Moesia Inferior in Romanian historiography from Vasile Pârvan to Istoria Românilor (The History of the Romanians), a work published by the Romanian Academy in 2001. Going through the main histories of Dobrudja, the historical Romanian region that was part of the province of Moesia Inferior, which later became Scythia, the main aspects of each work are presented, but also the way in which the writing of history changed from the interwar period to the communist period, and after 1989. Specific aspects of the early communist/ stalinist period are highlighted, then moving on to the period of easing, beginning in the 1960s, to reach the last years of the regime, characterized by national-communist ideology. In the author’s opinion, nationalism is still strongly present în the Romanian historiography, but so are other themes such as Romanization and Daco-Roman continuity.
