Abstract: Ancient Rome as Seen by Liviu Rebreanu: The study explores the way in which Liviu Rebreanu perceived Rome during his 1927 visit, an experience detailed in the volume Metropole. Rebreanu lived this encounter as a rediscovery of the self: for him, every ruin was endowed with meaning, to the point of becoming the very expression of divine harmony and perfection. In his vision, Rome is not merely the witness of a long-gone civilization, but the embodiment of the Latin spirit itself, the very foundation of Romanian identity.
