Abstract: In Romania, Work is also being done in Preparation for the “Celebration of Ovid”: The Bimillenary of the Birth of Publius Ovidius Naso (1957-1958). The Personality of Publius Ovidius Naso has created numerous opportunities for dialogue with the Italian space in modern Romanian culture. After a peak phase during the interwar period, when Romanian-Italian ties reached a high level of collaboration involving scientific and educational spheres, the rupture that occurred after 1948 reassessed the traditional meanings of these relations. Initially, the bimillennium of Publius Ovidius Naso’s birth attracted political attention, but the significance of these events was especially marked by the involvement of scientific and university institutions capable of delineating relevant elements in the efforts to restore Romanian-Italian relations. While the events organized in Romania in 1957 were limited to simple connections with foreign guests, a scientific approach to the relevance of Ovid’s work in Romania was made possible the following year during the events held in Italy. All aimed to foster closer ties, especially among specialists in Roman Antiquity and various personalities who could contribute to the development of networks of intellectual sociability, within the limited conditions imposed by the international context of the time.
